About the book

In the prelude to “It Ends with Us,” the journey commenced with Atlas. Colleen Hoover revisits the beloved character Atlas, unveiling his side of the tale and delving into what unfolds next in this eagerly awaited sequel to the acclaimed #1 New York Times bestseller, “It Ends with Us.”

Lily and her former spouse, Ryle, have finally established a semblance of harmony in their co-parenting arrangement when Lily unexpectedly encounters her first love, Atlas, once more. Despite nearly two years apart, Lily is thrilled to find time in their favor for once, eagerly accepting Atlas’s invitation for a date.

Yet, her excitement is swiftly overshadowed by the realization that, although divorced, Ryle remains a significant presence in her life— and Atlas Corrigan is the one man Ryle detests being involved with his ex-wife and daughter.

Interchanging between Lily’s and Atlas’s perspectives, “It Starts with Us” seamlessly resumes from where the gripping epilogue of the bestselling phenomenon, “It Ends with Us,” concluded. Unraveling more of Atlas’s past and following Lily as she embraces a second chance at love while navigating the challenges of a jealous ex-husband, this narrative reaffirms that “no one delivers an emotional journey quite like Colleen Hoover” (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author).

People who whave read the book say…

Love, laughter, and joy filled my heart as I read. Theo’s character added an extra layer of intrigue, especially during his interactions with Atlas. His witty banter never failed to bring a smile to my face.

Lily’s strength, evident in both “It Ends with Us” and its sequel, is truly inspiring. Every character, from Josh to Lily’s mother, captured my heart even more with each turn of the page. I was completely engrossed, finishing the book in just 1.5 days.

“It Ends with Us” and “It Starts with Us” both live up to their titles in the most poignant ways. Honestly, in another universe, I’d be married to Atlas Corrigan!

While the book was undeniably captivating, the ending left me yearning for more—a feeling of not wanting it to conclude. The time jumps felt slightly abrupt, leaving too much for readers to imagine on their own. Adding a final chapter from Lily’s perspective after the conclusion would have been the perfect finishing touch (no spoilers).

Despite these minor qualms, the journey was well worth it, keeping me eagerly flipping through pages to see how it all unfolded. The incorporation of diary entries and letters added a charming touch, even if they occasionally diverted attention from the main storyline. I wholeheartedly recommend it if you’re curious about Atlas and Lily’s journey from beginning to end (almost).
